Installation / Re: Which file for embedded fresh install
« on: February 29, 2016, 09:58:21 PM »
if you imaging direct to the card that will be in the system , then  xxx-serial

if you are imaging to a usb stick that you will boot from, then install from the usb to the internal storage, use  xxx-serial-installer

Firewall/NAT / Re: NAT/Port forwarding totally broken?
« on: February 29, 2016, 10:33:06 AM »
Hi, your problem reads differently, in that it works sometimes and not others.  Original reporter can't get it to work at all ....

just an FYI,  1.10.x release is based on freebsd 10.  freebsd , while having a lot of changes, also is on ipfilter 5.  Why am I calling this out ?  There was/is a bug in ipv6 stateful inspection , this took >2 months to figure out the issue, working with the ipfilter maintainer.  It turned out to be a freebsd 10 change with packet checksums, and not an ipfilter 5 problem.  It was very frustrating :(  pf didn't have the problem, as pf doesn't check checksums like ipfilter , which made us look at ipfilter for too long ...

There are mixed reports of ipnat issues in freebsd 10 / ipfilter combinations , but none with any real data to help track down the issue.  They are mostly about ipnat having problems after several days, and a reboot fixing it, I experienced this intermittantly, but haven't since patching for the ipv6 issue several months ago.

I use t1n1wall 1.10.x at home on ALIX, behind a cable modem, and don't see these issues.  I have plenty of ports forwarded, and I have nightly backups to the internet that don't fail.

What does all this mean ?  I'm going to need you help to track this down and troubleshoot, and your patience

General Questions / Re: What dyn-dns do you use?

They can be updated with a fetch without a username password.  So a scheduler task making the fetch should work fine.

General Questions / Re: How does Version Checking work?
« on: February 27, 2016, 03:58:25 PM »
Hi.   It looks broken.

It works by:

When you open that page it calls out to t1n1wall.com and pass the version in use.   The server responds if that is the latest or not.   It looks like that part on the server is broken.  I'll take a look.  I think it needs rework.

General Questions / Re: Multi-core support?

It has support multi cores since 1.8.x,  so there should be no issues with using multiple cores

Hardware / Re: ALIX boards, max throughput?
« on: February 24, 2016, 09:25:25 AM »
When I first got an alix I tested server to server copies lan to wan and got > 800Mbps at about 80% CPU.

POLLING and TSO should reduce cpu,  but some nics don't work right with these features enabled. TSO on the alix works fine afaik.

There is also fastforwarding available in advanced options that reduces latency and cpu.  It's not enabled by default as it may break some ipsec things and hasn't had extensive testing in t1n1wall yet

My broadband is 240mbps and at peak I get full speed at <30% CPU

Feature Requests / Re: BlinkLED
« on: February 24, 2016, 09:18:16 AM »
I think it's personal taste.  The existing method gives the same information by flashing the LEDs at different speeds.

If enough people thought it useful I'd consider it.   Also you could consider graphing it with snmp and setting up alerts with external tools.

can you go to exec.php and execute

Code: [Select]
cat / var/ etc/dnsmasq/dnsmasq.conf
(without the spaces - the forum doesn't like me posting without them , probably a security thing)

and post the output ?

Are there known issues with IPv6 and DHCP-PD with t1n1wall version 1.8? (An answer yes or no would here be sufficient)

No, there are people using this feature AFAIK.  Sounds like it worked for you but didn't renew ?
