Which file for embedded fresh install

I see xxx-serial and xxx-serial-installer files on sf.

Which to use for a fresh install on a CF card intended for an ALIX board?

The card will be pre-imaged and then put into the system

if you imaging direct to the card that will be in the system , then  xxx-serial

if you are imaging to a usb stick that you will boot from, then install from the usb to the internal storage, use  xxx-serial-installer
